MONTGOMERY COUNTY -- This is the start of Child Abuse Awareness Month. Thursday, Montgomery County draped everything they possibly could in the color blue! Aiming to raise awareness about innocent, endangered children. The numbers are staggering: In 2014, Montgomery County Children Services investigated 3,500 cases of child abuse. Most cases were for physical abuse, but cases of neglect and sexual abuse were also reported. "It's very important that are whole community does work together to make sure cases are referred to us by calling 224-KIDS," said Assistant Director for Children Services, Deb Downing. The somewhat good news at time is that the numbers haven't gone up since last year, but... they haven't went down either. So if you suspect abuse or neglect, call 22-KIDS... callers are able to remain anonymous and Montgomery County Children Services prides itself on resolving often stressful situations by simply connecting families with resources.
