As heavy rain continiues to lash Kerala, educational institutions in southern districts have declared a holiday. Schools and colleges in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam and Thrissur districts were closed on Monday after heavy rain and water-logging disrupted rail and road traffic. Thiruvananthapuram-based Kerala University has postponed its examinations to July 21.
