Christians have the power of GOD available to them that non-Christians DON'T have.  God used the Apostle Paul to tell us about this power.  In 2 Corinthians 12:9, Jesus states:  "My strength is made perfect in (human) weakness."  Thus when Christians are trying to stop an addiction, or a besetting sin, and we find that no matter how hard we try to resist the addiction and/or sin, and we end up giving in ... there is power available from GOD for a Christian to CHOOSE to say "No!" to that addiction and/or sin.  How do we AQUIRE that power from God?  The secret, or key, is to FIRST come to the place in our life where we admit to ourselves that we simply don't have the will-power in and of ourselves to stop giving into the addiction - sin.  The SECOND thing God wants us to do is begin asking Him and patiently trusting Him to teach us how to APPROPRIATE His power to say "No!" when temptation rises.  When we begin to tap into, or appropriate, CHRIST'S power to say "No!" to our addiction and/or sin ... eventually breakthrough will come.  God WILLS for breakthrough to come.  He wants Christians to be addicted to NOTHING, which certainly includes sin.  If God had no provision for Christians to attain the POWER to say "No!" to their addictions - sin - (impure, ungodly thought life, anger - bitterness at God included) - then these would all be wasted words, now would they not?  -- Norm Rasmussen; Director, Precious Testimonies Evangelistic Ministries
