This instructional video walks you through the repair difficulty, parts and tools you will need, and the steps involved in maintaining your tractor engine. 

(2:12) Step 1: Remove the cap from the oil drain valve. Install the hose onto the drain valve and put the other end of the drain hose into a large container.

(2:31) Step 2: Push in on the valve and turn counterclockwise. Then pull outward about ¼”. Allow the oil to drain.

(3:09) Step 3: Check the air filter. Before removing the air filter element, clean the area around the base of the air filter. The pre-filter can be cleaned with dishwashing detergent and water and dried with paper towels.

(3:48) Step 4: Remove the air filter and inspect it. Before your install the new air filter element, clean the areas where the rubber seal will sit against.

(4:30) Step 5: Install the new air filter element and make sure that the air filter cover is installed properly.

(4:29) Step 6: To remove the spark plug, you’ll need a deep well 5/8” socket. Install the new spark plug. Reconnect the spark plug wire. After the oil has completely drained, remove the old filter and pour the residual into the disposable bag or container.

(6:15) Step 7: Prepare the new oil filter by lubricating the gasket with new 30 weight oil. Install the new filter. Turn the filter until the gasket makes contact with the casing then one half turn to tighten.

(6:39) Step 8: Close the valve then remove the oil drain tube and put the yellow cap back over the end. Close the container with the old oil.

(7:13) Step 9: Remove the oil dipstick and add about ¾ of the recommended capacity. Insert the dip stick to check the oil level.

(7:49) Step 10: Before attempting to remove the fuel filter, run the tractor until all the fuel has been consumed and the tank is empty. To begin, use pliers to release tension on the retention clamps and move the clamps away from the fuel filter.

(8:00) Step 11: Remove the fuel filter from the fuel hoses. Locate the arrow on the new fuel filter and install that end toward the engine carburetor. Install the other end to the fuel filter to the remaining fuel hose. Use pliers to position the fuel hose retaining clamps to lock the fuel filter into place.
