Two women share their secrets

At our zine-making workshop this summer, we asked women to open up about themselves. Jay, 22, identified with a reader-submitted secret that we featured in our one-year anniversary zine, “Incognito”: “I’m bisexual, but I never took action or spoke about it openly.” Marlena, 26, shared her secret: She has a bone disorder called spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia. She deals with a lot of chronic pain, which she can sometimes conceal. “It’s scary to be disabled and either want to hide it or share it,” she says.
