Wheeler Is Sick Again

Wheeler started running a temperature again yesterday so we took him to the vet. first thing this morning. His temperature reached 104.8 degrees yesterday, at 105 degrees we would have taken him to the emergency vet's office in Columbia which is about 50 minutes away. Normal dog temperature is in the range of 102 degrees. Another round of antibiotics using ciprofloxacin this time. Last time the vet. was afraid we were looking at Cushing's disease for which there is not a cure but this time he thinks it's only a kidney infection probably because Wheeler is not taking enough fluids daily. Now we'll need to make sure he gets at least 18 ounces per day for awhile. We're going to move the water bowl into the den to see if he's more likely to drink in another room. Mean while we'll be using the little blue bulb filled with 2 ounces of water which we put directly into his mouth to be sure he gets all the fluids he needs. Thanks for watching.
