Just as Crash Bandicoot got revitilized through the N. Sane Trilogy, about more than a year later, his best friend, Spyro the Dragon, followed suit, with Spyro Reignited Trilogy!

Both Crash and Spyro are owned and published by Activision now, and they came from different developers, Naughty Dog and Insomniac Games. This time, while Vicarious Visions made N-Sane Trilogy, Reignited Trilogy was made by Toys for Bob, which is funny because they are also responsible for the Skylanders series.

For now, I'll start my playthrough of the remaster of the very first Spyro game.

Once again, a few dragons of the Artisans homeworld were being interview for their 5 (or 6?) worlds, and their 12000 (or 14000?) treasure.

When asked about Gnasty Gnorc, another dragon stepped to how much he was simple, no threat, and ugly he was. Unfortunately for that dragon, the gnorc leader himself was watching the interview on TV. He seemed hurt the most by being called ugly...

So then, Gnasty grabs his helmet, picks up his magic club, and uses it to turn every last dragon into crystal... Well...almost everyone.

The spell missed a small, young, purple dragon named Spyro. He quickly decides that it’s up to him to stop Gnasty Gnorc!

Just about everything you remember from this game has been updated beautifully: the graphics, the animations, the voice acting, music (subjectively. You can switch back to the PS1 music if you want), even the controls. This game now has Spyro 2’s map system, and now Spyro can charge jump as high as he could in Spyro 2 & 3.

Spyro 1 also gets its sequels’ Skill Points, though a lot of them are pretty simple, such as the Artisans’ one for gliding to a platform with treasure. I intend to get every single Skill Point in this game.

The best thing you’ll love in Spyro 1 this time is that every single dragon you free has a completely new design and voice. Even the Save Fairy and Balloonists have voices, now! Spyro, himself, gains his voice actor Tom Kenny from the two sequels after this game.

In the Artisans Homeworld, the first dragon you save is Nestor, who looks more like a sculptor. Same as before, he sends Spyro off to rescue 10 dragons before talking to Marco the Balloonist to go to the next dragon world.

The second dragon I save is Delbin, who look more like a painter.  He still explains about Sparx the Dragonfly's usefulness. Also, notice how Sparx has legs, now?

The 3rd dragon I save is Tomas, who has now become a lute player. He still worries about Spyro's safety, and this time Spyro was a little bit more worried himself before Tomas explained to him what he meant.

The 4th and last dragon in this homeworld is Argus, who now carries around an unfinished watermelmon. Perhaps he's a food critic? To fight the Artisans boss, Spyro must first beat a different level here before the huge dragon head that contains the boss portal opens up.

Even with all of Spyro 1's updates and changes in Reignited Trilogy, it's still the only game out of the trilogy where I can achieve 100% in every single level without having to repeat them. This will once again make for a very straightforward playthrough.

It may be even easier now that I can use Sparx at the start of all 3 games to track down any Gems I have left to find.
