Listen as Philip explains the importance of making our homes think for themselves. With a background in artificial intelligence and building science, Philip Odonkor finds passion in building algorithms which turn our homes into intelligent, energy efficient spaces. Hailing from the warm shores of Accra, Ghana, Philip moved to Buffalo in 2008 and is currently pursuing his PhD in Mechanical Engineering at UB. When he isn’t busy recreating the movie Smart House, he devotes his time towards building diversity in STEM fields through the Buffalo-area Engineering Awareness for Minorities (BEAM) program. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
