Ten Chinese intelligence officers and a group of alleged hackers have been charged over accusations of infiltrating the computer networks of private companies in the U.S. and abroad to steal plans for a turbofan engine to be used in commercial airliners. The group are accused of infiltrating the computer networks of private companies in the U.S. The aim was to steal plans for a turbofan engine to be used in commercial airliners. The scheme ran from 2010 to 2015 and targeted a turbofan engine developed through a French manufacturer and U.S. companies. A Chinese state-owned firm worked to develop a similar engine at the same time. Arrest warrants have been issued for all 10 defendants but they are believed to be in China. The indictment is among a small but growing collection of prosecutions that openly accuses the Chinese government of stealing U.S. trade secrets
