I decided to dive a little deeper into Kairi and Jack's relationship because I just couldn't stay away from this pairing. 

Anyways, let's do some explaining.
Every Guardian is brought up to protect every child on earth, but they also have a specific child in which they must keep them safe and allows the child to see them. Their hearts were connected. Jack's child was a redheaded girl named Kairi. The two initially met in the forest on the first night Jack was reborn and from that day they were inseperable. 

The ice spirit was so caught up in taking care of his designated child that he was neglecting his duties as a Guardian and is forced to accompany the Guardians much more. As a result of his negligence, children don't believe in him other than Kairi (which Bunnymund clearly states). No matter what they say, Jack continues to spend time with Kairi, becoming an outcast to the Guardians. This puts Jack into a predicament and he makes the choice to be a full-time Guardian and leaving Kairi. 

Years pass and Kairi is a grown woman and Jack informs the Guardians that he will divide his time between his "child" (I put it in quotes because they're romantically interested in one another) and being a Guardian.
