Every year the World Economic Forum identifies up to 300 exceptional individuals as ‘Young Global Leaders’. They are young people from a variety of disciplines such as Economy, Politics, Science, and Culture, who have committed themselves to working towards a better future for our world. Global 3000 interviewed 11 of the most innovative thinkers and people of action. Topics included global warming, poverty, energy policies, world hunger/food crisis, and leadership styles. In our 5-part series, you’ll hear about these pressing issues from people who know what they are talking about, like: 
John Hope Bryant. John knows what poverty is all about. He grew up in an Los Angeles slum and even spent some months homeless when he was 18. Today he’s a tireless soldier in the war on poverty in the USA. His organization, "Operation Hope", promotes hope, high self-esteem, and dignity as an integral part of the solution. He’d like to share his recipe for success with the rest of the world. 
Also appearing in our program is Michael Tarazi. Michael is a political advisor to the ‘Consultative Group to Assist the Poor’, known by its acronym, CGAP. Housed at the World Bank, the CGAP is a kind of ‘poverty think tank’. Tarazi believes that technology is the key weapon in the fight against poverty. He’s trying to find ways to enable people with limited incomes to get freer and more affordable access to the financial systems.
