A lot of people told us to not go with our trailer but we could not help ourselves but to try. After all, if we came all the way here and didn't make the drive, we would never forgive ourselves. The 60 mile road from Chitina to McCarthy is mostly dirt and gravel with lots of potholes and washboards. Depending on how much rain or if it has been recently graded, you can expect a huge range of conditions. We had it pretty easy on the way there but the story is totally different when we left a week later after a few days of rain.
