🎥 What's in this video
Something fun showed up in the mail: a 2019 favorite recipes calendar from Townsends, the YouTube channel originally called James Townsend and Sons. I bought a nutmeg mug from them a while back (I reviewed it, too), and that put me on their mailing list.

📦 What's inside
It's a glossy, magazine-style 12-month calendar, not heavy cardstock, with a historic recipe for each month, like root soup, candied lime peel and rice pudding (I've got to try that one). The full recipe is printed at the bottom of each page, so you can actually cook these at home, and there's a lot more on their channel. There's a little bit of a sell in there too, with costumes and product numbers.

💡 Why I love this
Townsends makes Americana and early American history content with great production value: period clothing, costumes, sets and loads of 18th-century cooking. It makes me wonder why we spend so much on educational TV when passionate creators are putting out this much great content.

And instead of just mailing a catalog, they sent something useful you can hang on the fridge or in your office cubicle. There's something visceral and old school about writing on a paper calendar. That's old-world customer service, and I dig it.

🎁 Great for history buffs, home cooks, reenactors and anyone who likes Americana.
