Here, I've shown all the processes by which I record violin parts (harmonies and trebling of lines), in addition to a brief construction of a backing track, with drums (via keyboard), bass, guitar (rhythm and solo), keyboards and vocals.

Time stamps:

00 introduction
47 recording the DRUM part
23 recording the BASS part
23 recording the GUITAR part (takes 1 and 2)
30 recording the KEYBOARD (Rhodes) part
35 recording the VOCALS
20 brief mixing to set up for strings

The string session itself:

40 introduction - setting up, and a few other preliminary steps
30 recording the initial line
50 recording two more of the same for a sectional effect, with discussion
45 working out some more complex lines and chords, with writing down on manuscript
30 recording the more complex parts
20 playback of finished parts
00 after-thought: recording extra parts an octave up for expanded sound
42 panning individual parts to create a stereo spread
10 reverb - how to restrain it!
40 playing string parts underneath a solo - rhythmic parts and using the violin mute for a subtle effect.
36 recording GUITAR SOLO part
08 the importance of not recording at a high level with many parts, and tidying up tracks with small fades
10 putting reverb on all the violins simultaneously using a bus
00 conclusion
