Hey guys, Rules for Rebels back with episode 50 of Side Hustle Tuesdays. Today's story involves a farmers market and oddly enough this is about the third story we've had which started at a farmers market. The first was the women selling glass nail files, another was the women selling homemade dog biscuits and the third is slipping my mind at the moment but a farmers market offers a very low barrier to entry into the market, is cheap and fairly easy to get started and is a great place to test out an idea.

One interesting thing I learned from today's story is that many/most states have something called "Cottage Laws" which allow people to sell home baked goods at farmers markets without all the licensing and registration a restaurant or food service business would typically have to go through and I think this is part of the reason a farmers market is such an attractive place for a new entrepreneur to start. In this video I show you a map of all 50 states and which have cottage laws if you're curious about whether you could do this in your state.

Anyhow, today's story is about a brother and sister duo Amanda and Josh who while in middle school started a business baking bread and selling it at local farmers markets.

Over the past 4-5 years they've continued to grow the business and while they are now high school students they have over 13 different types of bread they sell, they have expanded tech wise with a website, Facebook page, and can accept credit cards and they've even hired a friend to manage their Facebook presence for them. 

In 2016 alone they made over $10,000 and while they are saving a lot of the money for college they have both managed to buy themselves cars as well.

Today's story is a fun one and a motivating one. If a couple of pre-teens can start a successful money making side hustle surely you can too.
