Aswan and Luxor are both located in the southern part of Egypt. This part of the country is comparable to America's "Bible belt" in that is is largely rural, there is a lot of farming, and the people are more conservative and religious. This was definitely Morsi country--I saw his campaign posters everywhere including a huge one plastered to a horse-drawn carriage in a wedding party. On the way to Luxor we passed through many small towns and I tried to capture a bit of the daily life of the people going about their business. This footage was recorded June 12, 2012.
