High hood heaven in Tarrytown

Here we see a dead head equipment move of the only two high hood Geeps Metro North owns.  Both engines were built as long hood forward engines.  Tonight, we see GP8 543 with GP9 750 heading south.  GP8 543, was originally a GP7 built for the New York Central in May of 1953 as engine 5770. Its number remained 5770 during the Penn Central era and was rebuilt by Rock Island's Silvis Shops in 1978, while under Conrail. It was then renumbered as 5432, and was reclassified as a GP8. When Metro North took over, they gave it its current number, 543.  GP9 750 was built in December of 1955 for the New York Central as their number 5936.  I am not sure if it was ever really rebuilt.  In its days with Conrail, it was numbered 7508.  When Metro North took over, they took off the 8 and left it as number 750.  If you have any questions about the video, feel free to message me.
