Time of her life: Local 11-year-old pulled on stage with Green Day

FORT THOMAS, Ky. (WKRC) – It was the time of her life Sunday at the Green Day concert at Riverbend. 11-year-old Sadie Aseere was pulled from the front row and put on stage with one the most famous rock bands in the world. 

Front man Billy Joe Armstrong searched the crowd to find someone who plays guitar.

“He said 'What’s your name?' I said Sadie. He said 'How old are you?' I said I’m 11. He said "How long have you been playing guitar?" I said two years. He said "Alright. Get up here,'” Aseere recalled.

Aseere was given a guitar, Armstrong pointed out a few cords and Aseere stole the show.

“At the end of the song he says you get to keep the guitar. I just put my hands over my face, I didn’t know what to say. I said thank you so much and then he hugged me,” said Aseere.

Both of Aseere’s parents were at the concert. The show was a gift for her straight A’s the previous school year.

“We’re grateful for her to have this opportunity. It’s something we won’t ever forget,” said Dan Aseere.

But perhaps the biggest moment of the night, the final cord of the show.

“He (Armstrong) said when I count to three you’re going to jump off these steps and strum as hard as you can. That was one of my favorite parts, that was awesome,” said Aseere.

Aseere left the stage with all of Riverbend chanting her name. She also got to keep the guitar that was signed by the band.
