Cunningham Piano's Jason Andino, formally a key soundboard installer at Steinway in New York for over a decade, puts the finishing touches on the duplication of a soundboard from a Steinway Concert Grand. The material of choice is Quarter-Sawn Eastern White Spruce from Canada, an extremely valuable cut of wood that is tonally an equal to what was used before WWII. There are few technicians in the world like Mr. Andino who are able to achieve the exact duplication of the soundboard's crown and fitting.
