Exploring the abandoned LA-14 Nike Missile Installation in the Whittier Narrows recreation area. I went for a run in the Whittier Narrows Recreation Area one afternoon on January 19, 2014, and since I'd heard that there was an old Nike Missile facility here, I decided to find it. It wasn't hard to find, but was behind a fence and barbed wire with a "US Government Property Sign". No matter, a hole in the fence made it easy to enter. Not much to see -- the site is quite run-down. I wish I could have gone inside the magazines, but all the entrances were welded shut.
