Today I answer your questions on how to really make it in this real estate business 2019

Turning to Real Estate
Around the same time I got laid off from my job, as faith would have it, I closed a big real estate transaction from my side job and earned a $40,000 payday. For the first time that I can remember, entrepreneurship started to look like a pretty good career option. Unlike a nine-to-five job, I could work from home and stay with my daughter. I didn’t have to commute and rush from day care to the office and vice versa. It was also something I could do on my own, so there was no risk of getting laid off. Overall, it seemed sane, flexible, and even potentially lucrative. The wheels were in motion. I started to think about working for myself and creating my own opportunities, which was far more appealing than having no options at all.

However, at the time, I just didn’t have the confidence to follow through on this idea. So, two weeks later, I ended up accepting another consulting job and headed back to work. There I was, still breastfeeding, trying to find empty offices in which to pump, rushing back and forth from day care, running a myriad of errands during my precious weekend time. I barely had any time with my daughter or my husband, let alone time to sleep or care for myself. That’s when I hit my breaking point. Why was I doing this to myself? Why was I doing this to my daughter?

So, I quit. On my last day, I closed another small real estate deal, which I took as an omen that I was doing the right thing. When I think about my entire career trajectory, my biggest regret is that I didn’t go out on my own as an entrepreneur earlier. I have far more freedom and way more choices than I ever had at a full-time job. I can be home for my daughter. I can go to the gym during the day while she’s at school. I can even juggle multiple projects at the same time. Today, I’m 100 percent happier than I ever was and believe that making the switch was the best thing I could have done for myself. There’s nothing wrong with corporate America, but sometimes you need other options.

I’m not going to lie; getting off the ground took some time. Success did not happen overnight. It took me eight solid months of sacrifice, risk, and hard work before I saw evidence that this new path could be a stable and viable career. In fact, in the early days, far more money was going out the door to get everything set up than was coming in. There were many times when I felt ready to give up and head back to the full-time grind. But I stuck with it. Slowly, my goals started to materialize.
For Whom Is This Book Written?
This book is written for anyone who is interested in becoming an entrepreneur, small business owner, freelancer, self-employed, or going into business for yourself. It’s not targeted to a specific industry. I wish someone had given me a tool with practical, simple-to-implement, how-to steps when I was just starting out. In fact, I wish I had something like this even earlier, when I was still in college and planning out my future.

I’ll address issues that would have been helpful to know about ahead of time: the questions I should have asked before I decided to go out on my own, the excuses and fears that I found myself battling early on, and the tactics that helped me take things from ideas to reality. I learned the hard way, through experience, how to balance my family and personal life, and what behaviors I needed to cultivate to get momentum and maintain it. This book is your shortcut.

Please understand that becoming a successful entrepreneur requires a lot of hard work. The challenges are many, and you’ll be in a constant state of learning. We’ve all seen the statistics about how many small businesses fail versus how many succeed, and there are tons of books out there about how to work for yourself. This one shares some of the critical lessons I learned along the way. I chose to highlight specific topics that came as a complete surprise to me. My intention is to make the road a little easier for aspiring entrepreneurs out there and share some of the practices that have served me well.

I hope you find the book helpful!
