5,000 Seek Refuge at MSF-Supported Hospital After Attack in CAR

An estimated 10,000 people arrived at the hospital supported by Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) in Batangafo, Central African Republic (CAR), after an outbreak of violence on October 31. MSF Field Coordinator Hellena Cardellach describes how the medical team responded, and the grim situation of the more than 5,000 people who remain seeking shelter in the hospital. MSF runs medical projects throughout CAR and has observed a worrying increase in violence this year. To date, there are 570,000 refugees from CAR, and nearly 690,000 internally displaced people in a country of approximately 4.5 million.
