Funeral for Palestinian killed in West Bank as Israeli forces confronted protesters

(27 Oct 2018) Hundreds attended the funeral on Saturday of 33-year-old Palestinian man Osman Ahmed Ladadweh who was killed as Israeli forces confronted stone throwers in a village near Ramallah city on Friday. Nine others were wounded by live rounds, one in a critical condition, doctors said. His wide, Maha Ladadweh, said it came as a shock but added "to God we belong and to him we return. My children know that their father is sleeping, they want to say goodbye and he will go to paradise, this is what they know." The sides have fought three wars over the past decade, and Israel and Egypt have maintained a stifling blockade on the territory to weaken Hamas. The Hamas-led weekly protests along the Israeli border have been aimed in large part at breaking the blockade, which has devastated the Gaza economy.
