Petra Ledendecker enjoys a good fight. She's always been someone who makes things happen. In 1987, Ledendecker founded a furniture company near Hanover. Today she's the president of the Association of German Businesswomen. For years, Ledendecker had to cope with set-backs. Banks refused her loans, promised commissions vanished into thin air. But Ledendecker drew on the experience of fellow members of the Association of German Businesswomen. Now, as the president of the flagship association, Ledendecker is passing on what she's learned to other women starting out. Even while battling serious illness, Ledendecker managed to keep her company afloat . Today, two years after a lung transplant, she still hasn't cut back her hands-on involvement. Ledendecker says she draws energy from her work and enjoys the challenge it provides. Ledendecker also has a twelve-year-old daughter, with whom she spends most of her free time.
