In 2017 UN House of São Tomé and Príncipe decided to implement Green Energy Solutions to meet their energy requirements and contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals. This Solar Photovoltaic (PV) project was a successful collaboration between UN House of Sao Tome and Principe and partnering agencies – UNFPA, WHO, WFP, UNICEF, with the support of UNDP Office of Information Management and Technology (OIMT).

The 42.18 kWp solar PV capacity system generates around 60,000 kWh annually and saves 23 tons of CO2 emissions per year. With 15,372 USD annual savings and remarkable environmental benefits, this project serves as a great example of sustainable energy implementation.

The whole project was developed through the 7-Step Green Energy implementation process, which is used as a standard in Green Energy Solutions. UNDP OIMT creates Smart Facilities, ranging from energy and mobility, ICT, Infrastructure and business solutions, to IoT, monitoring and security. Smart Facilities cover projects within the United Nations and beyond.
