The BIG KAISER Mega Micro Chuck was demonstrated at the AMB exhibition and MTD took a closer look at this fascination solution with BIG KAISER’s Christian David, a BIG KAISER Key Account Manager.

Now available in the UK from leading cutting tool manufacturer Industrial Tooling Corporation (ITC), Christian tells MTD: “The Mega Micro Chuck is our new collet chucks system and the Mega 3S is part of our family that incorporates the smallest tool holders in the world. We are using the 3S system and the new addition is the new micro chuck nut for delivering coolant supply to the cutting edge as it is important that chips around the cutting tool are removed by the cooling water, especially in small machining operations.”

“The micro chuck system is suitable for milling and drilling cycles and it has an extension facility that is important for reaching to the bottom of bores or difficult to reach faces. Some of our existing important customers are in the dental industry and also the medical industry. This new system complements our extremely small boring heads. The micro Chuck is balanced up to 40,000rpm and this is essential for high speed machining that is a necessity in micro machining applications. All our precision tools are finely balanced to less than 1gram per millimetre. However, the level of run-out will vary depending upon the length of the tool holders and specific end user machining conditions.”
