DAYTON -- The Dayton Police Department says graffiti crimes have reduced 50% on the city's east side because of a task force created. The Graffiti Task Force, started in East Patrol Operations, under Lieutenant Andrew Booher last summer. Right now, a new mural is going up off Hamilton Avenue. For the last several nights, artists have thrown up a projection screen onto the 20 foot by 170 foot long wall to trace the outline. "The wall was covered in graffiti, foul language and dirty pictures," said Jason Antonick, with the Huffman Historic District. Scott Gibbs, the lead artist, with the HALO project said the mural represents inventions around the city of Dayton. The mural will be painted in the coming weeks by kids in the juvenile justice court system.
