Through fires and floods, past alligators and billboards, All the Bayou Stories End with Drowned presents a unique perspective on modern life in the United States. Wright will read from her collection and discuss the effects of the digital age on poetry. In an atmosphere where think pieces reign, what is the role of this art form? Poems offer an alternative to that addictive drive to know everything instantaneously. More than being good for us, though, they can expand our ability to consider the big ideas of life, to seek understanding rather than talking points.
