A recording of a concert I gave a number of years back at the University Of Wininpeg, where the first half of the program is me playing (somewhat twisted, to varying degrees) improvisations on various Christmas Carols. The second part of the program consists of compositions by myself of a generally non-Christmassy nature. I'm playing on a 7 foot Bosendorfer.
The concert programme is as follows:
Improvisations on 'God Rest Ye, Merry Gentlemen'
Improvisations on 'Joy to the World' and 'Silver Bells'.
Improvisations on 'We Three Kings'
Improvisations on 'Oh Christmas Tree', Rudolph The Rednosed Reindeer' and Oh Little Town of Bethlehem. (this is my favourite of the set)
Improvisations on 'Angels From The Realms of Glory', 'Frosty The Snowman' and 'Jingle Bells' ('Frosty' is the most 'twisted' of the improvisations, at least to start, and 'Jingle Bells' ends up in outer space somehow.)
My Compositions are:
Prelude ("A Japanese Cowboy in Paris') and Gymnopodie #3
Gymnopodies #5 & 6
Gymnopodie #7
Fugue in E Minor
Bolero
The music is accompanied by semi-random pictures of winter scenes for the first bit, pictures of flowers, skies and scenery for the second bit. I apologize that I haven't taken the time to make the photographs more 'relevant' to the music they accompany, but I hope they are more interesting than a blank screen. :-)
