Pawlenty, and key lawmakers announce a late Friday compromise on General Assistance Medical Care, or GAMC. Much has happened in the last few weeks, before this compromise. GAMC, was "un-allotted" by Pawlenty, then reinforced by the legislature, then vetoed, then an override failed this last Monday. Also, 3 recipients had just filed suit, and the "un-enrollment" from GAMC would have begun this weekend. So, compromise was reached, and at this press conference we will hear from : Governor Pawlenty; Sen Linda Berglin (DFL); Rep. Erin Murphy (DFL); Rep. Matt Dean (R); Spkr. Margaret Anderson Kelliher (DFL); Rep. Thomas Huntley (DFL); Rep. Kurt Zellers (R); Sen. David Senjem (R); and Dept. of Humans Services Com. Cal Ludeman on some of the details of the compromise.
