To charge the controller you simply plug it into the skin's micro USB socket, this charges the controller first before charging the skin's battery. 

This cover feels the same as the original PS4 pad, it is hard plastic. If you grip it pretty hard whilst playing you may feel some flex. If you have biggish hands/fingers you may find the battery gets in the way.

There are other colours and designs available.
