Cameron Heaps: Better known by his stage name, ErratiC, Cameron has been beatboxing since he was 11 years old. In his performance, inspired by his own surroundings and emotions, he uses the beatboxing technique to emulate drum beats, electronic effects, and rhythms. Cameron, better known as ErratiC on stage, has been beatboxing for about 11 years. In middle school, he started out as being the “weird kid” who made strange noises. To improve his rhythm, he started banging on his brother’s drum set to emulate each drum head. In high school, by joining an a cappella group and listening to a variety of music, his vocal percussionist skills developed. After high school he participated in open mics and moved back toward the beatboxers spectrum of the art. Since then, he has made connections with other artists, opening for big and small names such as Blueprint, Del the Funky Homosapien, Cappadonna of Wu-tang Clan, MC Lyte and John Legend. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx
