A southwardly moving oil slick from the sunken fishing vessel, Xin Yi Yi, near the waters at Permatang Damar Laut may pose a danger to marine life along coastal areas near Perak.

The Hong Kong-registered vessel hit an old wreckage two nautical miles from the shores, spilling tonnes of oil into Penang waters on Thursday morning.
