Vanderbilt University has been selected to co-host the 2021 NCAA Regional Championship for Division I men’s golf—the latest in a string of NCAA and SEC events the university has helped bring to Middle Tennessee in recent years. The 2021 regional, which will be held May 16–19 at The Golf Club of Tennessee in Kingston Springs, is part of a collaboration with the Nashville Sports Council, a private, nonprofit, membership-based organization whose mission is to positively impact the economy and quality of life of the Greater Nashville area by attracting and promoting professional and amateur sporting events. “The NCAA’s decision to award Vanderbilt the 2021 men’s golf regional championship is a testament to the great strides our program has made during the past few seasons,” said David Williams, vice chancellor for athletics and university affairs and athletics director. “It also demonstrates how Vanderbilt athletics is providing tangible benefits for the wider community, not just on campus but across all of Middle Tennessee.” Among the recent events Vanderbilt has helped host are multiple NCAA Regionals and Super Regionals for baseball and a number of SEC Championships, including for cross country (2012), women’s golf (2012), men’s tennis (2014), indoor track and field (2017) and women’s tennis (2017). Vanderbilt also will host the 2018 SEC Outdoor Championships for track and field next spring.
