My own advice for you is that when you move your mouse, the Nova lags behind your mouse quite a bit unlike in games like Ice Cream Machine, so if you are getting penned in by enemy Novas, quickly get out of the way to avoid losing health, as you have only three lives and will only have three lives ever,. Even though it seems like a bad idea, you do have to collect blue gems to purchase upgrades which will turn your one shot in a direction you choose into a 3 shot in a direction (fan formation) you choose in 3000 gems (which will make your life so much easier), then 8000 gem points which will add even more shots to the one direction in a fan formation, and so on, which will increase how many Novas you take out, which means less bullets on the screen, which means less damage you take. Don't buy Ultranova though, you'll have to buy it again and it is in my opinion, wasting 2750 gems you could be saving for a permanent upgrade of 3-way Shot.
