The Information Sharing Environment (ISE) was stood up as a direct result of the attacks of September 11, and designed to help facilitate the sharing of terrorism-related information among Federal, State, local and tribal governments; foreign partners; and the private sector. In the five years since Congress directed the creation of the ISE, significant steps have been taken towards establishing a strong foundation for this work.
