Easter is always the most crowded day at the Zoo. In fact, the entire Easter weekend, from Friday through Monday, is the most crowded weekend at the Zoo. By 11:00 AM, you probably won't find a parking space in any of the main lots, or even in the overflow lot, and you won't be able to stay very long at any exhibit if you are lucky enough to get close to the viewing area without feeling guilty because so many other people are waiting for a turn to get a glimpse of whatever you are looking at.  Everyone knows this, and yet, every year, everyone, even everyone from hundreds of miles around, keeps coming on this day or at least on this weekend.  It's a definite tradition, I guess.

But  I was lucky this year.  I arrived at opening time all three weekend days, and on Easter, I was able to stand for a while and enjoy this quiet peaceful scene before all the other thousands of visitors arrived.  There are so many scenes like this that most visitors miss, especially on days when the Zoo is crowded.

(In addition to the natural sounds of wild birds chirping, you can hear a peacock calling.)
