(2 Oct 2018) UKRANIAN DESIGNER ANTON BELINSKIY PRESENTS FIRST OFFICIAL RUNWAY SHOW IN PARIS The Ukrainian designer Anton Belinskiy came from Kiev to present his first official runway show in Paris on Tuesday (2 OCT. 2018), in a wing of the Palais de Tokyo contemporary art space. The young designer, who was shortlisted for the LVMH prize in 2015, put the show together with the help of his friends and colleagues from Kiev – some of whom who walked the runway for him. This collection was about finding faith, a theme that arose from the designer's experience of his mother's turn to religion after dealing with dramatic events in her life. "This was a story about how I came to believe in God, and it has a lot to do with my mother, who after certain things happened, she became very religious, and that made me think about religion and faith and what people believe in. So this is the main theme. It was also about rediscovering my own beliefs and my own faith." Belinskiy mixed together contemporary elements with traditional ones, either religious or Ukrainian. The colorful pattern on the opening dress was a copy of a sweater his mother knitted for him when he was young. An electric blue velvet jacket over a gold velvet miniskirt mirrored the national colors of Ukraine. A print on a miniskirt and tights came from an old Spanish film about Adam and Eve – the model also wore a headdress like a nun's. And a pinstriped suit was worn with a traditional woven sash, clinched with a string of shells like a rosary.
