A commemoration of the death of China National Anthem composer Nie Er was held in Fujisawa, Japan on Saturday.

Nie wrote the March of the Volunteers, later adopted as the National Anthem of the People's Republic of China, just days before he was drowned in 1935.

The song was created to support volunteer armies fighting against Japanese invaders in 1930s.
