Frontgate recently sponsored the 2012 House Beautiful Kitchen of the Year on Rockefeller Center in New York City as part of an integrated promotional event coupled with editorial coverage. For the fifth year, House Beautiful took over the plaza with the construction of a 1,000-square-foot kitchen conservatory featuring two fully-functioning kitchens both indoors and out. Frontgate provided outdoor furniture and décor for the front entrance, outdoor kitchen and the main entertaining area. Renowned kitchen designer Mick de Giulio also integrated Frontgate outdoor dining chairs into the main dining area of the interior of the kitchen saying that they offered the visual aesthetic he was looking for through an eclectic design mix of metal and woven furniture. All products were hand-picked by De Giulio to keep a consistent vision for the project.

The Frontgate brand was well represented by the products chosen. Teak deep-seating, wicker dining and deep-seating, cast aluminum furniture pieces mingled with new décor pieces as well as time-tested iconic Frontgate products. Visitors to the Kitchen were able to touch and see Frontgate products in a real-life scenario and were able to relax on the furniture or take refuge from the July heat under the Easy Shade Umbrella. Associate Publisher Sean Sullivan commented, "Frontgate has a great array of decorative accessories along with their exquisite outdoor furniture. We're extremely pleased with the product mix chosen, from teak planters to woven furniture groups to the beautiful lanterns used to illuminate the kitchen at night."

Collections and décor products provided by Frontgate included; Melbourne Deep-Seating, Monterey Dining, Monterey Curved Modular Deep-Seating and Lounge Chairs, Venetian Dining Chairs, Teak Half-Moon Side Table, 10x14 Easy Shade Umbrella, Constantine & Trident Lanterns. Frontgate also provided White-Washed Teak Planters, Sophia Zinc planters in both Large and Small, and Grandin Road provided the Jules Planter in blue. Designer Mick De Giulio expanded on using Frontgate in his design, "It's been a great thrill working with House Beautiful and Frontgate who has an incredible grouping of items that are stylistic and offer a certain flavor. Frontgate is known for their exterior furnishings but I also used their chairs for the interior as I like to consider bringing the outside in when thinking about design."

The public was invited to attend up-close culinary demonstrations from an incredible array of celebrated and innovative master chefs. These demonstrations along with non-stop presentations on the most influential design trends, interactive programs with designers, craftsmen and lifestyle leaders gave the event substance as well as beauty.

The Kitchen of the Year project enlisted new media marketing solutions to increase awareness and reach. Wireless networks provided internet access for media personnel to report in real-time, "scan and pin" signage allowed visitors to pin Frontgate products to Pinterest while Today Show segments, podcasts, and video interviews, created ground swell online. Social media content was encouraged at the event with House Beautiful providing professional photography to all sponsors who wished to promote the event to their social audiences.

The kitchen brought together a wide array of premier building and home decoration companies, including Ann Sacks, Belgard, Caesarstone, Circa Lighting, The Container Store, Frontgate, Glidden, Grandin Road, Grothouse, Hickory Chair, iRobot, Kohler, KraftMaid, Kravet, Napoleon Fireplaces, Shaw Floors, and Whirlpool.
