In this installment of our Texas 4000 summer movie, our team finally makes it to California, but not before the team forms a musical super group in Ben & the Basskateers and rocks the Agape Church in Caliente, Nevada. One of our riders, Ben, took some lyrics from a church hymnal and put his own bike-twist to them, writing "The Long Blue Train" and performing it with several riders to get us pumped for the day's ride.

After a night's stay in Rachel, Nevada just down the road from Area 51, we met one of the most generous families in Tonopah, the Klineman's, who offloaded two 64 gallon coolers full of food and drinks on us, not to mention a full bar of liquor that we quickly took down! Cory Klineman had been entertaining clients on his boat on Lake Powell, and thought we could use the goods more than he could. They basically gave us everything they had on board but their baby and the boat!

The best thing about California is that it is not the desert... beautiful weather, beautiful scenery, beautiful everything! After spending a rest day in Mammoth Lakes, CA and visiting Yosemite National Park, it was off to San Francisco, where we were welcomed with open arms by the family of one of our riders, as well as our host Carlos, who owns The Freewheel bike shop in San Francisco.
