Sometimes it seems as though alleged fans want Star Wars to be something it isn't; they have their favorite parts, they have their Star Wars wishlist...but they don't match the Star Wars they actually got. And this disappoints them...but that's their own fault. Star Wars is a saga; it starts out pretty, nearly utopian, then gets worse and worse as the bad guys take over; then the heroes manage to defeat evil at the last moment, bringing order and peace back to the galaxy. When people bitch that the prequels were too shiny, new, and happy...they don't get it. When people claim that Star Wars was never cute...they're engaging in selective memory. No, the prequels weren't perfect...but when you look at how they're supposed to fit into a good-vs-evil saga, they actually make perfect sense.
