European Commission launches measures to protect bloc's businesses in Iran

The European Commission is renewing a sanctions-blocking measure to protect European businesses in Iran. The move comes after the US pulled out of the Iran nuclear deal and imposed new sanctions on the Middle Eastern country. The Commission said the measure would come into force within two months, unless the European Parliament or EU governments formally rejected it. The scheme could also be activated sooner if there's strong political support.
