Bangladesh batsmen Tamim Iqbal and Imrul Kayes have been fined 15 per cent of their match fee for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct on the second day (Thursday) of the ongoing second Test match against Sri Lanka.Both batsmen breached Article 2.1.1 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “conduct that is contrary to the spirit of the game.”
While Tamim showed his bat to the umpire during an lbw appeal, indicating he had hit the ball, Imrul pointed to his thigh pad to show where the ball had hit him, when Sri Lanka appealed for a catch. Both players admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by match referee Andy Pycroft.
