The Tottenham MP was live on the BBC complaining about a lack of police presence in London and even claimed he hadn't seen an officer since he had been in the area. But the politician failed to realise an on-the-beat bobby was standing metres behind him and was clearly visible in the background of the shot. Speaking on BBC News, he said: 'It feels like neighbourhood policing has vanished, it's not around you. We haven't seen police in a while and I've been here for quite a while now.' Dozens on Twitter picked up on the gaffe, leading to #DavidLammy trending on the social media platform.
