Jason Line may have celebrated his 40th birthday two days late, but he did so in fine fashion, capturing the Pro Stock title in the final eliminations of the Fram Autolite NHRA Nationals in Sonoma, CA. Starting from the second position, the Summit Racing Pontiac driver defeated V. Gaines, Johnny Gray and Jeg Coughlin in the early rounds before squaring off against his teammate and No. 1 qualifier Greg Anderson in the final. Using a quick .024 reaction time, Line gained the advantage at the start and used a 6.639-second, 208.33 mph pass to hold off a hard-charging Anderson, who carded a 6.632-second time and 208.71 mph top speed.
