President Cyril Ramaphosa has authorised the Special Investigating Unit to probe a number of government departments and municipalities. This includes irregularities relating to procurement, improper or unlawful conduct by employees and unlawful appropriation. Among the entities under investigation are the KwaZulu-Natal Departments of Public Works and Transport, various Eastern Cape institutions as well as the Buffalo City and Nelson Mandela Bay Metros.
