We thought we'd become farmers, and we failed miserably. Giving our chickens and rabbits the best care we knew how, they kept getting killed or dying, so we finally said the heck with it and turned them all loose to free range on our six acres farm in Central Virginia, figuring the foxes, owls, hawks and raccoons would eat them all. We've been pleasantly surprised as we've not lost a hen since, and they are now laying on average one egg each, daily (we have seven), after having taken up safe haven in an empty storage shed attached to our detached garage that we've since converted into a hen house. Also, our bunnies did NOT run away, but they stayed, becoming outside pets, and just two weeks ago, while cleaning out the hen house, I discovered two litters of kits two of our females had given birth to under the hay in the hen house. Alas, we've decided to farm again, basically by staying out of the animals' way and letting nature take its course. Check in for new videos to follow our adventures.
