Replacing the MacBook Pro Harddrive with an SSD is an easy process.
Doing so will improve the performance immensely!

All you need is a small phillips and a Torx-6 screwdriver.

In case of just wanting to extend the hard drive space, I'd suggest making a copy of the existing harddrive for example by using Carbon Copy Cloner.
