In this compelling talk, Mariana Vergara describes her experience among indigenous communities within the Amazon River basin. By becoming aware of the natural surroundings helped Vergara appreciate the power of healing through mindfulness, which would give Vergara the strength to understand an intense conflict and to ultimately contribute to a mindful resolution. Mariana Vergara is an educator with over 15 years of experience teaching using innovative methodologies that support transformative learning. She is a Doctoral Candidate at the AEGIS program in Adult Learning & Leadership at Teachers College, Columbia University.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
